Maria J. Rodriguez
Associate Professor
Department of Physic
Utah State University
Maria J. Rodriguez studied physics in La Plata (Argentina), Santa Barbara (USA) and Barcelona (Spain), and later became a Fellow of Harvard University, Marie Curie and the Max Planck Society. She is currently an Associate Professor of Physics at Utah State University, leads the Gravity Lab and holds research appointments at Instituto de Física Teórica, Spain and at Black Hole Initiative, Harvard. She has authored over 50 papers on classical and quantum aspects of black holes. Her early work concerned black hole solutions in higher dimensions, black hole scattering, and energy extraction models, with more recent work seeking to uncover tidal deformations of black holes and implementing AI models.

From an early age, while participating in Math Olympiads, she developed a strong interest in mathematics and science. Learning her first programming language Logo on Commodore computers at elementary school, sparked her passion for computational physics. Now, she applies her expertise and enthusiasm to inspire the next generation of scientists.
